The Tour of Britain in Kirkcudbright, 7th Sept
If you get paid to ride a bike and get your kit given to you, then the event you will be trying to win in the UK is The Tour of Britain. The nice people that organize the race have realised that some of the most wonderful roads for riding a bike are here in the South West of Scotland. They keep on returning, which is a big thumbs up for Dumfries & Galloway as a cycling destination even if you do not get paid to ride a bike.
On Saturday, Sept 7th, stage 1 of this year’s race, pedals out of Glasgow and probably ends in a bunch sprint in the centre of Kirkcudbright at about 3.30 in the afternoon. They will be averaging more than 25 mph and doing the last bit along the coast at about 40 mph or more. Galloway will be just a green blur for them, which is a shame.
There is another way. We have teamed up with The Selkirk Arms - possibly the best place to both stay and eat in Kirkcudbright, and CD Bikes which is where we get our bikes serviced. There will be 3 free-to-enter rides on the day - you look after the mechanicals/navigation and there is no support - which is a good deal for free to enter.
All the information about the race can be found on the Tour of Britain website. https://www.tourofbritain.co.uk/stages/stage-one/
Anyone needing bikes - get in touch with us here. We have a fleet of bikes including some eBikes.
